Ron Paul Revolution

Submitted to The Hill on November 14, 2007, partial published on November 16
As the Democrats and the Republicans have morphed into one giant party consisting more of 'in's and 'out's than party members, they were complacent that their control was absolute. We give the citizens these choices for President and that's it. In essence saying, 'put a neocon war monger up against Hillary cuz its her turn'.
After Eugene McCarthy [D] used deep pockets donors to derail the war in Viet Nam and oust LBJ, those 'in' power passed the FEC. If deep pocket donors were going off the reservation, the parties wanted to know who they were to mete out 'punishment'. For instance, road construction blocks access to your store for 2 years -- that kind of retribution.
After Ross Perot bought his way into the debates, the League of Women voters were tossed out in favor or a Democrat/Republican panel. Perot brought charts and talked about things like deficits. The entire Republican Revolution platform could have been devised based on Perot's platform. But now the candidates sign contracts down to the minutia of what can be said or the angle of cameras.
Now comes Ron Paul, a GOP Congressman from Texas, who grills Ben Bernacke, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, and is broadcast to the floor of the NYSE causing the traders to stop trading and cheer! .. And this upstart has the gall to bring in hundreds of thousands of new political activists to the GOP and raise, in averages of about $100 each, $4.3 million in one day -- the day from the movie "V is for Vendetta" when the people again take charge of their government.
The memos must be flying around DC and State GOP headquarters, use any ploy, any dirty trick, any manner of misrepresenting the non-violent Ron Paul Revolution as dangerous! Why Glenn Beck's show implied we were terrorists. Home land security can wipe out all your rights if you are a terrorist so this really isn't funny anymore.
But their fear tactics are not working. Ron Paul is at 8% in a Rasmussen poll and still rising. Polls that used to exclude him as 'Other' (another habit to for un-vetted candidates) now see his name and vote for him. Bless this old OB/GYN's heart. Go Ron Paul. I'm a grandmother and you cured my apathy. There may be hope for the people to again police the government rather than the government police the people.
