Autos have safety features like seat belts and air bags but in Storm Lake a two year old died in an overheated auto. And pet owners like myself cannot take our 'kids' on trips. A trip into a store or restaurant is a potential death sentence.
The technology cannot be that hard. There are solar fabrics now that create power for campers. Apply a solar fabric to the roof of autos, hook it up to a thermostat, open slots in the floor of the vehicle and start a fan or A/C circulating cooler air into the vehicle. No one likes to enter their vehicle on a 100+ day and suffer the drive home either.
The sleek lines of today's autos may not adapt to exhaust fans in the roof, but we don't want to lose any more children to heat. It can be done. Let's challenge the auto industry to fix this deadly problem.
